When you get your monthly utility bill and are surprised with the rising costs, you are not alone. In fact, the average utility bill increase across the United States in 2017 was over 7%, well above the CPI numbers for the country. So much for no inflation!
One way Americans are learning to save a little each month on their monthly electricity bill is to switch to a tankless water heater. Unlike your conventional hot water tank, tankless water heaters only heat water on demand, so you only use energy when you need the hot water. Hot water tanks, on the other hand, use energy all day to keep a full tank of water at a constant hot temperature at all times.
Needless to say, the majority of American homes will see an improvement between 25% – 35% each month on the cost of heating their hot water. In real dollars, that can be between $15 – $20.
It’s easy to see that after just a few years, the full cost of switching to a tankless water heater will pay for itself, and then some over the lifetime of your home. There is no reason to wait until your current tank needs replacement, by that time you could have saved yourself money in the month energy cost!
